Dragon Age: Origins – better than sliced bread?

"...Run Away..!"

Ok, so I’m a little behind on this one. Started playing this epic on Sunday, mainly due to BFBC2 putting a then downer on not being able to play it, and I gotta say it’s VERY cool. Lovin’ the combat although I’m getting my virtual ass handed to me at the minute by the Ogre at the top of the tower; ya know the one where you have to light the beacon. Decided a good solid dwarf with a sword taller than he is would be perfect to carve my path through the game.

Amazing game. I loved it. I rolled a City Elf warrior that spec’d for dual wield. Some of the choices you have to make towards the end of the game are so morally ambiguous that there doesn’t seem to be a ‘right’ answer. Bioware really nailed cause and effect on this one. Some of the more minor decisions you make can have huge consequences further down the road.

I did over 75% of the side quests and I clocked in around 85 hours of game time. Superb stuff.

I’m even considering replaying it as a real bastard this time.

I hear ya! did the part over the weekend with the guy in the cage. With it feeling like a real ‘plot quest’ as opposed to a ‘choice quest’ I tried to negotiate his freedom but she was adamant he wasn’t to be released, I ended up threatening the woman in the church to give me the keys! (much to the disapproval of Alistair but Morrigan was lapping it up) It felt morally challenging seeing how the guy butchered several families without explanation – boy can he swing a 2 handed weapon though… Never had a game make me consider so many moral aspects before.

I’m liking this blog site clay. I’m in between games at the moment and can’t decide what to do. Just downloading NeverWinter Nights 2 at the moment, but this looks a lot better… Have you played Neverwinter?
