Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 with Toy Soldiers…

What kind of 'Space Plastic' are those shields made from? You can empty several mags into them and they stay intact!

After spending the weekend with my lady I was kinda craving some gaming action. Just as I’d finished getting up to date with SGU (which is superb by the way Sci Fi fans) I got a phone call from Rich (who else) which went something like this;

Rich: DUUUUUUUUUDE! How’s it going? You had a good weekend? Been to a five star hotel for an awesome meal and after sat chatting to the chef necking expensive wine!

Me: DUUUUUUUUUDE! Yeah all good mate, been out and about with my chic all weekend. Went to see the monkeys at Trentham, ya know just ‘stuff’.

Who's up for ice cream?

Rich: Did we just become best friends?

Clay: uh hu, wanna go do Karate in the garage?

Ok so the last two didn’t actually take place they are quotes from Step Brothers, possibly one of the funniest flicks going…

The conversation actually turned to Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 ‘Wanna do the co-op missions on Veteran?’ there is only one answer to that really. We spent the next 4 hours or so being either highly elated or thoroughly pissed off! I know it’s the hardest difficulty but MAN some of those missions are hard! All great fun though, felt good to revisit a game I’d kind of turned my back on due to the frustrating online cheaters that now seem to litter the game. Still think ‘breaching’ is one of the coolest features in any FPS.

Upgrade from gas to burning gas, ahhhhhh yeaaaaah...

After this barrage of frantic game play I decided to slow things down a little with a game I’ve had my eye on for a while now which is Toy Soldiers on XBox Live. I gotta say it’s a truly superb game! Very strategic – especially later on and extremely fun to boot. All for around a tenner. I can’t recommend it enough, go get yourselves the demo and give it a whirl. It’s quite a simple formula; you have several different sized placements in which to place different kinds of weapons, anti aircraft, howitzers for anti vehicle, gas placements for anti troop (which are cool), mortars which become stupidly long range and very powerful and finally the trusty machine gun which when upgraded enough become anti vehicle weapons too. Then you get waves and waves of different kinds of enemies all trying to make it to your ‘Toybox’ – ok I know it sounds a little infantile but play a few rounds you’ll soon see it isn’t. Anything can be thrown at you in the waves and on occasion you’ll get a kind of boss fight with a stupidly oversized, overpowered vehicle.

Wait 'till you see the whites of their eyes...

After all that what more could you possibly want from a game? I currently have a personal best for ‘highest blown soldier’ or whatever the actual stat name is of 625 feet into the air – permission to look smug? Check it out guys, it even has a multiplayer option…
